God of peace, God of unity, I confess that you are God and I am not. And I know that you know that, but I am the one that needs reminding. Daily reminding. There are so many things beyond my knowing and grasping. And sometimes the pulpit– proclaiming your good news? Well sometimes it leaves me grasping to make sense of it. Just some of it, not even all of it. And yet. And yet, as I live in this world that insists on being divided, I lay it at your feet. I trust in your power. I trust that you do miraculous things through water and bread and wine and even me. Me who sometimes helps to cause the dividing. And you need my human breath and flesh to point to it and to wonder at it. And there are times it is hard to see. So remind me today that you are the God of love for me and for the world. And that whatever we throw at you, whatever I throw at you, you’ve seen it and you continue to be God and to help me see that I am not. So meet me in the great divide I find within my own self and call me home to you again.

Call me and my beloved toward each other today. Remind us of the powerful gift we have in loving one another. And stir up the faith of my good colleagues across the church. Remind us that your love is at work in the world. Thank you for being God and for reminding me that I am not God. It just brings me to my knees. Amen

Oh beloved human you are so loved just as you are. Don’t be afraid. God is with you.
