God, you are the brave one in this relationship. I am so grateful for that – that you don’t get blown around by the chaos of my mind. My greatest fears do not catch you off guard or cause you to go numb. It’s like faithfulness is your super power. So I ask you today, especially today when I may be feeling afraid or apathetic or tired. Or maybe all three!? *shudder* What was I saying? Or right, I’m asking you to crack open my fear. Breathe into my apathy. Inspire my weary bones and attitude with you. With your love. With your vision and dream for who you know me to be. Let me see in vivid color today that it is your great pleasure to give me Life with a capital L. Your live. Your love breaking into my cold heart. So break in like a thief and steal away my resentment and my bitterness. Steal away my self righteousness and indignation. Steal away the lists I’m keeping of other’s wrongs. Steal away all the crap that creates distance from you and the world you love. Heck, while you’re at it, take away all the crap that gets in the way of your love for me. I know you’ll send me out ready to tell others about you, but for right now, steal all the gross stuff outta my being. And help me to, well, see that you’ve given me all that I need. For today. For right now.

Give my family the goods today too, God. They’re just the best people. Help us to see you in each other. And remind my good colleagues across the church that you love them and that we are in this together. Because of you.

Prepare me for your reality to break into my life today! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Amen.
